The Mother of the Sea

Illustrations and frontpage for a children's book.

My bachelor project is based upon an old Greenlandic myth about Mother Nature, named
"the Mother of the Sea". It tells the story of the inuit Misuak and his people who are starving and struggling to survive the tough life on the ice. The inuits believe they are being punished by the nature. Misuak has to travel to the bottom of the sea to meet the goddess, in hope to find out why all the sea creatures has disappeared. This is one out of many versions of an ancient tale.
